Montana, with its rugged mountains, broad valleys, clear running streams, and evergreen forests, illuminated by intense sunlight that penetrates the thin, dry air, offers countless possibilities for artistic inspiration. The artist especially enjoys painting scenes from the Bitterroot Valley and Glacier National Park.

The old houses, small country churches, and weathered tobacco barns along the backroads of eastern North Carolina document a rural way of life that is being challenged by the fast-paced life of the modern cities of the region and trends toward a globalized economy.

Leaving interstate highways, the artist keeps an eye out for scenes for paintings, in particular in the prairie states, where abandoned farm buildings are reminders of the homestead era.  New England's picturesque villages, white frame churches, traditional farmhouses and barns, rolling fields, and stone fences, beg to be painted, especially when the hardwood trees display brilliant fall colors or when snow blankets the land.

This eclectic group of paintings range from the traditional churches of Norway and Russia, European cityscapes, the mountains of southwestern Ireland, to colorful sail boats along the coast of Sri Lanka.

This is a diverse collection of smaller paintings with dimensions of 12 inches or less. Some of these paintings are studies of scenes that later were painted on larger canvases.
